Classes & Students
Create classes, enrol students, configure settings, and manage every aspect of your classroom.
Creating a Class
Open Classes → New Class
Click 'Classes' in the sidebar, then press '+ New Class' in the top-right corner.
Name your class and pick a course
Enter the class name (e.g. '9DIGT2'), then select the course. The course determines which lessons, chapters, quizzes, and assessments are available.

Set year level, mode, and timetable
Choose year level, teaching mode (Term / Semester / Full Year), and how many periods per week the class meets. TeacherAI uses this to pace content scheduling.
Click Create Class
You land on the class detail page where you can add students, assign content, and start teaching.

💡 Pro Tip
Use your school's official class codes as names (e.g. '9DIGT2', '11AITATAR') to keep reports consistent with your school's system.
Adding Students
Three ways to add students — pick whichever fits your workflow:
Add Manually
Type each student name and email one at a time. Best for a single student or tiny class.
Import CSV
Bulk-import from a Compass export. Fastest for a full class at the start of term.
Join Code
Generate a code and share it. Students join themselves — great if you don't have emails.

Import from Compass
Export from Compass
In Compass, open your class → File → Export → Student Details. Save the CSV to your computer.
Open the Import dialog
In TeacherAI, click 'Add Students' → 'Import CSV'.
Upload your CSV
Drag and drop the file or click to browse. TeacherAI matches students by email address — accounts are linked automatically if they already exist.

💡 Pro Tip
If some students don't appear after import, check that the Compass CSV has an email column. Students without emails need to be added manually or via join code.
Class Dashboard Tabs
Every class has multiple tabs for different management areas:
Overview
Completion rates, active students, intervention alerts for students who went quiet.
Students
Enrolled student list with XP, level, streak, and last-visit date. Click a student for their full profile.
Assigned Work
Assign specific lessons or chapters directly to individual students or groups, with optional due dates.
Tasks
Student submissions waiting for review — theory tests, projects, and reflections. Shows pending and overdue counts.
Schedule
Week-by-week schedule showing which lessons and topics fall in each week of term.
Lessons
All course lessons by topic. Lock/unlock lessons and topics, view completion stats, launch Present Mode.

Quizzes
Launch Live Quizzes or leave as self-paced Practice Quizzes. Past results stored here.
Grades
Grade book — student rows, assessment columns, weighted totals.
Reports
Completion, engagement, performance, and intervention reports. CSV export available.
Settings
Class colour, AI features, solution visibility, co-teachers, completion reminders.
Schedule Tab
The Schedule tab shows all lessons organised by week across your term. Use it to control exactly what students can access and when:

Lock / unlock lessons
Click the lock icon on any lesson to control student access. Locked lessons are visible but cannot be opened.
Set current week
Click "Set Current" on any week to tell the system which week of term you are in. Drives student progress calculations.
Lesson settings
Click the settings icon on a lesson to override its topic, week, or visibility within this class.
Visibility toggle
Hide a lesson from students entirely without deleting it — useful for content you are not ready to release.
💡 Pro Tip
The schedule is auto-generated when you create a class. Drag topics to different weeks if your pacing changes mid-term.
Class Settings
The Settings tab controls how the class behaves for students. Key sections:
Class Colour & Theme
Set a colour for the class card and override the slide background theme (light, dark, or a colour theme).
Auto-reveal Solutions
When on, students see chapter solutions automatically after completing each activity. Off by default.
Completion Reminders
Flag students who have been inactive for a set number of weeks. You get a weekly digest.
AI Features
Enable or disable optional AI lesson-help tools. Respects your org-wide AI policy.
Gamification
Toggle achievements, certificates, and the XP leaderboard on or off per class.
Class Timetable
Set which days and times the class meets. Used to calculate the schedule and student progress against expected pace.

ℹ️ Note
Term Dates are used to auto-calculate which week of term it is and how far through the course students should be. A "Quick fill" button lets you select your state's standard term dates.
Co-Teachers
Share full class access with a colleague — useful for team-teaching, relief cover, or having a head teacher oversee multiple classes.

Open the class → Teachers tab
Click the Teachers tab in the class navigation.
Click 'Add Teacher'
Enter the teacher's email. They must already have a TeacherAI account at your school.
Save
The teacher gains full access to manage students, content, assessments, and grades for that class.
ℹ️ Note
Co-teachers can do everything the class owner can except delete the class or remove the primary teacher.
